You asked me how to make a Riddle School inventory system but I can't PM you because I'm not on your list of contacts! I had to post what I wrote here instead.

Well, the way I did it was something like this:

In the inventory area, there would be an Item Slot movie clip with all the items to be gotten in that slot on different frames. I usually give the movie clip an instance name of itembox1 or something.

Let's suppose the first frame is blank,
the second frame is a ruler,
the third frame is also blank,
and the fourth is... I dunno, a caterpillar.

When you click on an item like the ruler in RS3, the actionScript for it is something like this:

onClipEvent(enterFrame){
if(_root.itembox1._currentframe <2){
this._visible = true;
}
if(_root.itembox1._currentframe >1){
this._visible = false;
}
}
on(release){
_root.itembox1.gotoAndStop(2);
}

What all that basically means is:
If the itembox1 movie clip is on a frame before frame 2 (one of the blank frames), the ruler will still be on the desk. This means when you click it, it will make itembox1 go to frame 2 (the frame where the ruler is in your inventory), and when that happens, the ruler will no longer be on the desk.
